Chamber of Commerce
This American Flag was carried
with great honor, pride, and love during Combat Mission Delta 1 over Iraq
in a UH-60 Helicopter on the 16th day of December 2009. It is presented on behalf of the members of HHC
and A company, 1-150th Assault Helicopter Battalion, supporting America’s
War on Terrorism during Operation Iraqi Freedom 09-11, while deployed to FOB Delta
(Al Kut), Iraq.
The story that led to this
presentation: The Chamber’s Executive Director Michele Eventoff learned of
local soldiers who were serving in Iraq
and needed some things that would make their lives more bearable (the heat
reaches 120 degrees); items that they were unable to purchase there. Michele
shared “wish” lists with members and friends… items were dropped off at the
Chamber of Commerce office, and they were boxed and mailed to our troops on a
frequent basis.
In making
the presentation, Captain Lazarchick noted that the troops appreciated
everything that was sent to them but could only bring back a few flags and
chose our Chamber of Commerce to receive one because of the number of people
who got involved in our effort and the number of boxes we sent. He said that
when they received packages from home it was especially meaningful to the
soldiers.
Each package we mailed was sent
with our thanks, love and prayers for their safe return. We continue to pray
for the safety of all our military serving around the world.
