As you are patronizing one of our local businesses, you may see a green mug with the Brick Chamber logo that says “Ask Me Why.” The answer to the question is what Chamber membership has meant to you and how it has helped you grow your business. When you tell a not-yet member, supplier or customer how the Chamber can assist their business development, you are helping that business grow. The Chamber is the voice of the business community. We have numerous cost-effective advertising opportunities such as the township map, e-blasts, our Brick Lifestyles magazine and the fabulous “In The Bag Program.” We have exciting and varied networking programs: breakfasts, S.M.I.L.E. Lunches and Business After Hours at beautiful locations in our area.
When you invite a non-member to join the chamber and serve as their sponsor, you will get a discount on your membership or a $50 gift card to your choice of several of our member restaurants such as Carrabba’s Italian Grill, TGI Friday’s, The Pilot House or Tommy’s Coal Fired Pizza. So in addition to helping a business prosper, you will enjoy a great meal or receive a discount on dues. It’s a win- win situation.
Ask me why I am a Chamber member and your president this year. It has been an exciting journey for me and has opened many new doors. From joining at the recommendation of Helen Ann Peck, I immediately got involved in the Program Committee and helped plan our Target Success 2005 Seminar and gave a presentation on “Why Employees Sue.” Later I became involved in our mentoring program with Brick High School and then became the chair of this wonderful cooperative effort with the school district. I have had the opportunity to appear on Comcast Newsmakers, had my picture in the Brick Communicator and in the Asbury Park Press “society pages.” I have presided over ribbon cuttings to welcome our new members. I even got to throw out a ball at the Lakewood Blue Claws Brick Day and had my picture taken with Buster. Recently, I have also been negotiating with our local officials on your behalf.
I hope you will join me in our mission and reap the rewards from membership as I have.
